Say Cheese!
Photography and Publications students at Maize High School are taking better photos than ever thanks to a Foundation Grant entitled Say Cheese submitted by instructors Dan Loving and Anne Debes.
The $5,000 grant provided funds to purchase new cameras and accessories, phasing out older, outdated equipment.
Students receive direct instruction on how to operate the cameras, which in turn elevates their photography skills - well beyond what they might accomplish with their camera phones.
Mr. Loving estimates that nearly 100 students each year gain direct exposure with this equipment which is shared on a check-out/check-in basis. Though the impact is far greater when you consider the number of eyes that see the school's yearbook and digital newsmag.
